Presenting Meaningful Insights with Data

Tim Hunt attended a small college for his undergraduate degree, so accessibility to professors has always been important. Recognizing that Opus offered a similar experience, he chose the MS in Business Analytics program to deepen his skill set as a data translator.

Tim found his classes engaging and collaborative, and professors were never hard to reach or connect with. “[Classes] never felt like a pure lecture, even when we went fully online this last year.”

Because of courses like Spreadsheet Modeling & Data Visualization, Tim gained the capability to go from raw, unfiltered data to presenting meaningful insights. He often finds himself referencing courses when he gets stuck on a problem at work.

"[Gathering and presenting insights] was by far the most impactful learning for me," he says. “I had aspects of those skills before, but this program helped me fill in the gaps of my analytics toolbox."

The ability to connect with the faculty pushed my knowledge absorption that continues into my professional career.

Tim works as an Expert Data & Analytics Specialist at Procter & Gamble and recently completed a database project to improve reporting for his company. His analysis was recognized with the North America Growth Mindset award and is utilized in consistent insight gathering of the fastest-growing segments. Course learnings in agile framework and database modeling helped him shape the final project.

After nearly three years at Opus, Tim feels much more confident communicating technical aspects between business users, data scientists, and engineers.

“The breadth of knowledge I gained strengthened my capability as a data translator,” he says. "Before  gaining this competency, I didn't realize how impactful this skill was in the analytics space."
