Dig into Your Future Career, Now

MS in Health Care Communication Applied Learning

Gain Professional Experience with Practical, Hands-on Learning

Designed in collaboration with top health care professionals in the Twin Cities, our experiential learning practicum provides real-world experience. Develop your health care communication expertise with applied learning experiences including group projects, case studies, simulations, guest speakers, and more.

Work with a Personal Mentor Toward Your “Dream Job”

Throughout the program, you’ll work closely with an industry mentor, assigned to you based on your specific interests and career goals. To select your mentor, you’ll meet one-on-one with the Faculty Director to identify a professional in a role you aspire to hold in 5-15 years. You’ll also work together to determine goals and outline what future success looks like to you.

Your first semester is spent building a relationship with your personal mentor. In the spring, you’ll work with your mentor to identify a project with a health care organization to develop and apply your knowledge and experience. Upon graduation, many students indicate that the experience and context from their mentorship led directly to promotions and new jobs while they were in the program.

“I entered the HCC program after working in the field for several years, and was able to use the practicum to explore an area of healthcare that’s entirely new to me.”
