Learn to Speak Effectively on the Spot

Influential Communication

People who can speak clearly and persuasively in any given scenario, on the fly, have a significant professional advantage. Whether you have a natural knack for speaking or not, our program will develop and strengthen this skill.

Knowing how to communicate effectively is invaluable in every industry. Have you frozen when asked for your perspective mid-meeting or in an out-of-the-blue conversation with a colleague at your desk? Individuals who are able to effectively communicate in speak-on-the-fly scenarios have a significant competitive advantage in the marketplace. These skills can be learned and applied immediately. Strengthen your communication skills and improve your ability to speak confidently, clearly, and effectively with the Influential Communication program.

Our small class sizes create a collaborative learning environment, and help you get real experience communicating by tapping into your new network of other business professionals and leaders. Sessions are held on the downtown Minneapolis campus. There are no prerequisites for this program.

Curriculum

Learn how Aristotle’s Rhetoric (clarity, candor and credibility) can help you frame your everyday communication. Practice structuring ideas, proving a point and responding to difficult situations persuasively. After this session, you will be able to:

  • Speak confidently in difficult situations
  • Convincingly sell a product, service or idea
  • Clearly deliver impromptu presentations in a persuasive manner
  • Use interesting and relevant examples to tell stories and get your point across
  • Explain technical information in a simple and understandable way

Shaping mutually beneficial transactions between individuals and organizations requires a complex set of skills. More specifically, as a leader today, you must be able to influence others. This isn’t easy, but it’s essential if you want to make a positive impact on your organization. By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:

  • Demonstrate credibility and build trust by showing that you’ve heard and understand a client’s concerns
  • Develop the core competencies necessary to lead high-level discussions: listening, probing, surfacing issues, clarifying, and forging agreements
