Prateek Sharma, PhD, is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Finance at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business. He teaches financial management and financial institutions.

Sharma holds an MS in finance and an MS in statistics from the University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign, and a PhD in finance from Louisiana State University. Sharma’s research interests include banking and regulation, financial institutions and financial accounting and reporting. He has presented his research at leading national and international conferences in finance and accounting. He also served in various roles in the financial services industry prior to joining academia.

Sharma’s current research studies the reallocation of deposits within the banking system and its impact on the information production roles of banks. His teaching interests include financial management, corporate finance, financial markets and institutions.
