Family Business Advisor Engagement Luncheon

Good Governance is Good Practice

Running a family business can be a juggling act. Harmony and unity are sought in the family, but success in running a business often includes tension and competition. How does a family make these competing issues balance out? Good governance.

Governance is the way families facilitate appropriate communication on topics related the to the business and family. Good governance practices provide a constructive way to make decisions for family, business and ownership. When done well, governance practices include stakeholders in decision-making and can set the family business on a course to be successful for future generations.

At this event we’ll learn from three different family businesses with different governance structures. We’ll learn the reasons they sought good governance; how they normalize communication across tough issues to create stability for the future; how those outside the family can help; and more.
