Peter Young, PhD, has been working at the University of St. Thomas since 1994. Young’s work has centered on teaching risk management, research and collaborative projects across the university. Young’s risk leadership initiative has allowed him to reposition coverage of risk management as not just a subject within finance, but as a strategic management subject closely aligned with compliance, CSR, governance, and overall organizational leadership.

Young holds the 3M endowed chair in international business and leads the Global Business Engagement Initiative, which allows him to provide college-wide leadership in international programming, curriculum development and international partnerships. Young’s work has always had an international orientation, but this new role has supported the expansion of his view of his own work.

Young is the co-creator of the University of St. Thomas actuarial science program, which in 2011 received recognition from the Center for Actuarial Excellence and is ranked as one of the best actuarial programs in the U.S. He currently serves on the advisory board for the program and manages the global insurance course in London.
