Application Checklist

Your first step is to start the application online. In the application, you will answer some questions and upload the documents described below. Once you've completed all components you will submit the application, and can log back into the portal at any time to check the status of your application materials.

In the online application, you will upload your resume that outlines all relevant experience.

As part of the application, we ask you to answer the essay question. You can either download a PDF of the essay question and upload that form once you've answered the question, or upload your own document that answers the question:

  • Why have you decided to pursue this particular Graduate Certificate? Provide detail on the impact you hope it will have on your short and long term goals. (750 words)

To apply to this program, you must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution (or the international equivalent). We need original transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended, sent directly from the school. The only exception is for advanced placement courses and study abroad transfer credits—we don’t need transcripts for those.

Send via email: If your institution offers electronic transcripts, ask them to email your transcript(s) to gradadmissions@stthomas.edu.

Send via mail: Paper transcripts must be submitted in sealed envelopes and signed by the appropriate university official. Send to:

University of St. Thomas
Graduate Records - Admissions
1000 LaSalle Ave., Box 5
Minneapolis, MN 55403-2005

International applicants: Please see the transcript requirements in the international checklist below.

All international applicants and non-native speakers of English must submit scores from the TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo to be considered for admission. Score reports can be no more than two years old to be accepted. If you have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand, then you are exempt from taking an English proficiency test upon verification of your completed transcript.

Minimum score requirements:

  • IELTS: minimum overall band score of 7.0, with a minimum score of 6.5 on each of the four sections.
  • TOEFL iBT (Internet-based test): minimum total score of 90, with a minimum score of 20 on each of the four sections. To submit your test score, you’ll need our institutional code: 6110. Official score reports (not photocopies) are required. Please keep in mind that scores may take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive in our office.
  • Duolingo: minimum score of 110

To apply to the Graduate Certificate in Transformational Change and Organization Development program, you must have at least the international equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited U.S. institution. If you completed your undergraduate or graduate work at a college or university outside of the United States, you must complete a transcript evaluation. There are two ways to complete this evaluation (choose one):

  1. Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) and World Education Services (WES) are independent transcript evaluation services that St. Thomas accepts for international transcript evaluation. If you choose to have ECE or WES do your evaluation, you will receive a copy of the evaluation. To use ECE or WES, visit either site and choose the “Start Your Evaluation” option. For ECE, you will choose "Course-by-Course" evaluation and for WES, you will choose "WES ICAP" evaluation.
  2. If you already have a transcript evaluation, or would prefer to use a service other than ECE or WES, email the admissions office or call (651) 962-8800. We first need to ensure that the evaluation service you use is accepted by our university.
