He has been inducted into the University of Minnesota Aquatics Hall of Fame.  And he was been received the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts Alumni of Notable Achievement Award.  Of the college's 160,000 living graduates, approximately only 1% have been selected as recipients to honor their significant achievements and contributions.

At St. Thomas, Wendt was the Inaugural Recipient of the Business Excellence Award for Innovation in Teaching and received the Accounting MBA Faculty Award.  Three times he was an Opus College of Business Julie Hays Outstanding Teacher Award Nominee.  He was a finalist for the University Professor of the Year Award and was named as a St. Thomas Exemplar.
