Bonding Over Agile Project Management

Erin Mason currently works for Hennepin County as a Senior Project Manager. Having already taken the Project Management Prep program and earning her PMP®, she knew that the Agile Project Management program would be a great next step. Her organization was moving towards using agile project management, so she and several team members decided to take the program at St. Thomas together.

Being in the classroom and working side-by-side on real-world problems made the learning and applicability come together. Their instructor Wayne Kaul helped them figure out how to apply their new skills to specific projects within their organization. “It was beneficial for our team to bounce ideas off him," she said.

Now with training in both waterfall and agile methodologies, Mason is better able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. “Being able to blend the two methodologies together has helped me understand different points of view to manage a project,” she said. She hopes that more of her team will be able to attend the program and help spread the agile mindset to others within the organization.
