Addiction in the Family Business

Tuesday, April 20 | 11 a.m. | Online via Zoom

Addiction can show itself at any time in any family business. It may be noticed on the surface, an unseen problem creating impacts in family or business life, or something waiting to show itself to others. In our final Business Support Series event, we’ll learn about the risk factors that may set the stage for addiction in a family business, how to raise concerns with loved ones, and what transitioning back to work might look like for someone who’s received treatment.

This session will be on Zoom Webinar, where attendees will not see each other, protecting the stigma sometimes associated with this important topic.

This session is led by William Messenger, a family business attorney who advises family businesses, trustees and families on addiction issues regarding employees, beneficiaries and family members. Bill uses highly successful recovery programs for physicians as a model for his work. These programs use leverage or pressure to encourage the addict to enter treatment and comply with post-treatment recommendations – the key to long-term recovery.

COST
$25 per person

The fee is covered with membership to the Family Business Center and for current students, faculty and staff.
